Diary Entry: 6/18 – Starting
I decided to write a diary entry that I will be showcasing to the world, aka, no one. Yet, I fear my imaginary readers seeing how little I have to say about my day. I want to be a writer, so not romanticizing my life would reflect poorly on my storytelling, which is what my internal critic tells me. But I am practicing imperfection and consistency even when it is a basic Tuesday. Not much happened today. I had lunch with coworkers that brought me joy, added walking to my after-work activity, and had a sapid sandwich, the best I ever made.
I prefer to listen more than talk. But today was my first day back from Dublin, Ireland, and sharing your vacation experience with coworkers is customary, so I had the spotlight this lunch. I don’t know why all my favorite trip moments escape me when being asked about them. When asked, I told them about my Castle and Guinness tour. Though those were great highlights, they weren’t the cream of the crop. My favorite part about my trip was seeing this scruffy guy with about three box braids in his head. I saw him almost every day when I was in Ireland. I love to travel but always miss familiarity in my environment, which Red Box Braid Guy became for me. He was my Waldo. The only time I didn’t see him was when I went to Blarney Castle, which was disappointing.
The walk after work was fine and dandy.
I chose a sandwich for dinner because I didn’t want to cook, but it was a grand choice.
